On their website today, Counter Logic Gaming made numerous announcements in regards to their plans in 2013. The most notable of these announcements was the addition of Zaqueri "Aphromoo" Black to the CLG roster. CLG Prime -- which returns to the original Counter Logic Gaming name now that CLG EU and CLG Black have left the organization -- will be having Aphromoo start as its support player, a role vacated by Locodoco.

About joining CLG, Aphromoo said:

Time to get down to business [...] Being given the opportunity to play support for CLG makes me a little giddy because I will be able to play a role I am most comfortable in, coming from a healer for seven years in World of Warcraft. I will be putting in hard work to master support coming from playing AD carry so much, but with being under CLG I will have the proper tools necessary in order to become the best support in the world. I am happy!

CLG also announced that since CLG Black disbanded, Black's former mid player Austin "Link115" Shin will be joining them as an alternate player and moving into the CLG house in Burbank. Remember the time when games based on licensed franchises were awesome all the time? Yeah, we don’t, either.

Adventure games! Sadly, not all of them are good, and Critter Chronicles is a perfect example of that.

The Dark Knight lands on Nintendo’s latest console and kicks a ton of ass in what can only be called a stellar version of Arkham City.

Review: Black Knight Sword is one of the prettiest games of the year but sadly nothing more

Despite offering some of the best art seen in a game all year, this project fails to give players a worthwhile gameplay experience.

Swords & Soldiers Image

Swords & Soldiers will soon receive the 3DS eShop treatment. The game originally launched on WiiWare and then made its way to the PlayStation Network, PC, and iOS. Now it looks to bring its action-strategy gameplay to Nintendo's dual screen handheld.

The game will be aptly titled Swords & Soldiers 3D, and it would appear that there may be free DLC in store for players. This is still unconfirmed, but Circle Entertainment, who is helping developer Romino Games port the game to the eShop, has expressed interest in free add-on content and a downloadable demo.

3DS owners won't have to wait very long for Swords & Soldiers 3D. According to Circle, the game is expected to hit the eShop sometime in spring.

Review: Black Knight Sword is one of the prettiest games of the year but sadly nothing more

Black Knight Sword Image

Black Knight Sword - PS3 - 1

It’s impossible to discuss the presentation of Black Knight Sword without talking in-depth about the game’s graphical look. This is easily one of the best looking games of 2012 thanks in large part to its impressive and unique art style. The whole thing has a wonderful papercraft look that just stands out. Everything looks handmade, and I found myself so intrigued by the game’s art that I constantly stopped what I was doing in-game just to observe the spectacle of enemy paper cutouts and hand-drawn tree textures. Black Knight Sword is an absolute visual beauty of a game, and thanks to the musical talent of Akira Yamaoka, some fitting tunes have also been provided to fully create the wondrous vibe of this title.

Sadly, my enjoyment of Black Knight Sword ends there. This is not a good game by any stretch, and it’s a shame that the developers weren’t able to capture the same type of magic that poured out of Sine Mora ever so effortlessly. Black Knight Sword features hack-and-slash combat and plenty of platforming, none of which is ever all that interesting. The mechanics certainly work well, and there are no issues with the controls — the game simply isn’t all that entertaining, and it deeply saddens me that that’s the case. While I can certainly see how platforming through these great-looking stages would be okay for some people, the game never tries to be anything more than a middling experience.

Black Knight Sword - PS3 - 2

Black Knight Sword provides a high level of challenge which would normally command an extreme sense of satisfaction. That’s not the case here. Every time I defeated a tough boss or got through a challenging section, I found myself relieved that I no longer had to deal with the boring gameplay in that particular sequence. This was the case almost immediately, and by the end of this five-hour experience, I didn’t want anything to do with Black Knight Sword. As lovely, peculiar, and bizarre as its world was, I simply couldn’t fathom returning, and I can’t imagine that anyone with a love for great games would want to do so, either.

Even things the game does interestingly can be obnoxious. Defeated enemies drop hearts that you can collect and use as currency. While at a shop you can purchase armor, health upgrades, and magic upgrades. These definitely help, but they never make a huge difference like they should. Then there are sequences that are quite admirable such as a shoot 'em up stage which tasks you with riding around on the boss chicken you defeated moments prior. That's an awesome idea, no doubt, but the action can be tedious and annoyingly unforgiving.

Black Knight Sword - PS3 - 3

One aspect that will definitely annoy a few players is the save system in Black Knight Sword. This is because the game never autosaves when you reach a checkpoint. Instead, you need to pause the game and manually save after reaching checkpoints if you don’t want to lose all of your progress. This isn’t a big deal if you lose a life or two because you’ll still return to the last checkpoint regardless of whether or not you saved. If you get a game over, however, you’ll have to start the stage over which can definitely be a pain. By saving at checkpoints you also save the trouble of having to start over, and you can simply quit after getting the game over screen and load up your save.

I wanted to like Black Knight Sword. It’s strange, morbid, creepy, and funny. Thematically and tonally, it’s everything you could possibly want from a game with the Grasshopper name on it. Unlike Sine Mora which was a much more thought-provoking and awe-inspiring game, though, Black Knight Sword feels like a product that goes out of its way to give you a near perfect art design while simply going through the motions as far as its gameplay is concerned. If you want to play something that looks remarkably amazing, check out Black Knight Sword. Just know that you’re never going to get a worthwhile gameplay experience.

Sleeping Dogs Image

I remember when I had to wait 24 hours during each Steam sale to find out what's on sale next. Now it seems like every few hours we're treated with different games to buy for extremely cheap. While I'm still holding out for Dead Space 2 and Just Cause 2 (I know, they're old, I just missed out on those back when they released) I can't help but inch my mouse over to the buy now button for Sleeping Dogs and its amazing price of $16.99! Seriously, that's a steal!

Flash Game and Community's Choice summary:

Sleeping Dogs - $49.99 $16.99

Space Marine Collection - $29.99 $7.49

Thirty Flights of Loving - $4.99 $2.49

Orcs Must Die 2 - $14.99 $3.74

While I personally think that Space Marine was simply OK, Sleeping Dogs, Thirty Flights of Loving and Orcs Must Die 2 are absolute must buys!

THQ President: Bankruptcy a 'new start for our company'

To contact us Click HERE

Following yesterday's report that THQ filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, company President Jason Rubin took to the publisher's blog to explain just exactly what all of the legal jargon meant. To sum it all up, Rubin assured it "does not mean the end of the THQ story or the end of the titles you love."

"Quite the opposite is true, actually," he added. So what exactly is happening? Every bankruptcy is different, but Rubin gave us a little insight as to what is actually happening with THQ and their beloved franchises.

Basically, THQ has secured an investor, a private equity firm named Clearlake Capital Group, who is interesting in purchasing THQ's assets. This includes its developing studios (Relic, THQ Montreal, Vigil and Volition), Intellectual Property (titles, source code, etc.), and contracts (like the ones with Crytek, South Park Digital Studios, 4A games, Obsidian, and Turtle Rock). For the record, four unannounced titles from THQ have been revealed because of this bankruptcy.

Clearlake is providing the money THQ needs to keep working on the products throughout this whole process. Once the purchase is complete, Clearlake will invest in the company to finish the games currently in development and beyond.

"In short, they are investing in a new start for our company," Rubin said.

"Chapter 11 is a safety net for U.S. companies," he explained. "American Airlines is currently in Chapter 11 restructuring, yet I flew back and forth on that airline when I visited Volition two weeks ago. Donald Trump and his companies have been in Chapter 11 four times.  You can add to that list household names such as Macy’s, Eddie Bauer, the Chicago Cubs, Chrysler, Delta Airlines, General Motors, the Pittsburgh Penguins, Marvel Studios, and MGM, among many others."

Rubin added: "MGM filed Chapter 11 two years ago, and this year it released “Skyfall” and “The Hobbit,” two of the biggest titles of the year. That’s what I mean when I say new start!"

Just because Clearlake has been named as an investor doesn't mean someone can't outbid them, however. THQ's Chapter 11 process allows for other bidders to make competitive offers for THQ.

"Whatever happens, the teams and products look likely to end up together and in good hands.  That means you can still pre-order Metro: Last Light, Company of Heroes 2, and South Park: The Stick of Truth," Rubin assured. "Our teams are still working on those titles as you read this, and all other rumored titles, like the fourth Saints Row, the Homefront sequel, and a lot more are also still in the works."

Rubin explained that because THQ's worldwide employees are off for a week and a half paid vacation starting Friday for the holidays, the timing of the announcement "hardly matters anyway." He did describe the timing as "unfortunate", though.

"In short, the teams will be unburdened by the past and able to focus on what they should be focusing on -- Making great games, Rubin concluded. "I’m excited about the future and hope to have more to report soon."

We should learn more about the deal when the process completes in 30 days.

The Wii U's supremacy in Japan was short lived, as another Nintendo system retook the sales throne. According to Media Create's latest sales reports, the 3DS sold the most units for Week 50 of 2012.

From December 10, 2012 through December 16, 2012, the 3DS sold 319,025 units brings its lifetime total to 9,118,403. Meanwhile, Nintendo's other console, the recently released Wii U, sold 126,916 units. That placed it second among all other consoles in sales in Japan. The Wii U's lifetime sales in Japan are now at 435,058.

Nintendo's grasp on the top two sales spots was firm as the closest system was Sony's PS3 which sold just 42,976 units. The Vita continued its trend of underperforming the PSP which is especially startling considering this is a holiday month. The Vita's lifetime sales now sit at 1,089,067 in Japan.

Nintendo: Publishers set the play limit on Wii U demos

wii u eshop

With the release of Rayman Legends demo on the Nintendo Wii U eShop, now seems like the perfect time to address the play limits on the Wii U's demos. Demos on the Wii U from Nintendo's eShop are limited to a certain number of uses. For example, the Rayman Legends demo has 30 uses. After you use up the demo's limit, you get the message, "This demo can no longer be used. View information about the full version in the Nintendo eShop?" You are then redirected to a page where you can buy the full version of the game.

According to Eurogamer, who asked Nintendo why there were limits on games and why the limits varied, a Nintendo spokesperson said, "Each publisher has the opportunity to decide how long demos will stay on the eShop, and how many times consumers can play them before they expire." That demo limit is also implemented on Nintendo handheld, the 3DS.

I don't really see the big deal in there being a limit on how many times you can play the demo. If you're playing a demo 30 times, you obviously like it, and if that's the case, you should purchase the full game. Who is playing a demo 30 times anyways? And while there's no play limits on demos for the 360 and PS3, there are trials where you can only play for an hour.

Cliff Bleszinski working on a new IP titled Silverstreak

Good ol' Cliffy B is a busy man. Well, not really, but he will be soon. Aside from taking a break from game development and going to Disneyland, the man behind Jazz Jackrabbit, Unreal, and Gears of War has been tinkering away on a new project.

While details are scarce, Bleszinski stated that his upcoming IP is codenamed Silverstreak. And that's pretty much all we know so far about this mystery game. I wonder if it's related to the Silverstreak line of busses. Man, those things are comfy!

The Dane Cook look-alike went on to say that he would like to be remembered for more than just chainsaw-guns and men with giant bodies too big for their heads. Okay, so I added that last part, but still.

"It's time for a fresh start," Cook, err, Bleszinski told X-Play. "I'll start a new studio maybe at some point. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when and with who."

The Borderlands: Origins 2 comic came out yesterday

Are you a Borderlands fan?  Did you ever wonder just where those vault hunters came from in the first game?  Why Pandora?  Just why were they on that bus with Marcus?  If you read that Borderlands: Origins #1 comic, you’d know all about the story of Roland and how he got the party started.  Now, it is time to read about Lilith in the Borderlands: Origins #2.

I personal played as both Sirens in the Borderlands games so this comic interest me.  What really goes into being a Siren?  Just how much power does she have?  I remember the echo recorders for Maya in Borderlands 2 were pretty dark.  I expect a good story out of Lilith; “Learn how a young girl came to understand her incredible power, and how that power helped to save a world.”

The comic is out in both physical form and digital download, so choose your poison.  The digital download is only $3.99 so WHERE IS YOUR EXCUSE!?  Enjoy.

Review: Family Guy: Back To the Multiverse is a licensed project gone horribly bad

To contact us Click HERE
Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse Image

The game puts smart-alecky baby Stewie Griffin and loyal family dog Brian in a bit of a quandary, as they once again face the evil Bertram, Stewie's most feared rival.  He's made his way through the Multiverse to wreak havoc on their world, so the duo set out through various alternate universes to put a stop to his plans.

family guy

Seth McFarlane and his fellow Family Guy writers did contribute to the game's script (and I believe the voice acting – it sounds like the characters from the show), but you'd never be able to tell throughout gameplay, as you're constantly bombarded with the same lines, over and over again, throughout each stage.  When you're fighting the Amish (inexplicably, might I add), they constantly throw threats your way, even while you're killing them with a sniper rifle.  If that's not enough, Brian and Stewie become overly repetitive, as if they themselves were trapped in a Multiverse, where their dialogue became limited.  Only a few jokes manage to slip through the cracks, and very few are funny.

For that matter, the gameplay is no laughing matter either.  The game is set up as a third person shooter, where you can zoom in aim with your left trigger button and fire with the right one.  But the controls are useless, for two reasons.  One, enemies take two to three bullets to bring down, even with a headshot.  Two, so many come at you at once, and your firing rate is so bad, that you end up being bombarded anyway, forced to use your up-close melee attacks – which barely connect due to some heinous collision detection.  Even in co-op, it's a no-win situation – especially considering your enemies have super-accurate aim.

family guy

Early on in the game, for instance, you face an inexplicably super-powered frat boy who throws exploding kegs at you.  We scrambled like crazy looking for ammo to bring him down (using up-close attacks will just get you killed), and yet he still manages to hit us every single time he heaves a keg – even when we're side-stepping.  And after a few minutes figuring out a way to defeat him, there's barely any reward to speak of, save for an Achievement for beating the level.  Yay.

Family Guy also possesses a crude animation style that doesn't do justice to the show.  The cinema sequences look out of place with 3D characters – the traditional 2D set-up would've been a better fit here – and the level design is uninspired, with areas that are locked off until you can eventually get through, thanks to an outside incident.  The camera can also be a pain, as there are times you'll be close to a wall and can't really see ahead in some places.  Finally, the AI behavior is erratic.  Some characters run right at you, while others merely run in place, waiting to be picked off.

The single player campaign is rather short, only taking a few hours to see everything it has to offer – it isn't much.  From there, you've got multiplayer options, all local only, including the ability to take on waves of enemies in a rather thankless mode, or shoot at each other.  Neither really have any depth, so you'll likely try them once and then swear off touching them ever again.

family guy

Honestly, Family Guy: Back To the Multiverse just feels like an unnecessary game.  Nothing really works in favor of it, save for a couple of occasional laughs (like using Meg's flashing to make enemies sick, that was kinda funny).  The graphics are crude, the voice samples repeat way too often, and the gameplay just never clicks at all.  This is one of the worst licensed games we've seen in some time – and here's hoping this trend doesn't pick back up again.  The last thing we need is the "old" Acclaim to show up.  Yeesh.

Sega suing Level-5 over touchscreen mechanic used in soccer game

Inazuma Eleven 2 Image

Famed Professor Layton developer Level-5 is currently facing a lawsuit from Sega. It seems the company that brought us Sonic the Hedgehog is upset over the use of a touchscreen mechanic used in Level-5's Inazuma Eleven series of soccer RPGs.

Sega's complaint hasn't been completely detailed yet, but reports indicate that it revolves largely around the use of the touchscreen to move characters around. Ya know, because the idea of moving characters around with your finger or stylus on the touchscreen was originally conceived by Sega.

The company demands that Level-5 cease its sale of eight games in the Inazuma Eleven series. Additionally, Sega wants 900 million yen (about $11 million) in damages. I swear this just keeps getting better and better.

Okay, Sega, I like ya, but this is just petty. I mean, seriously, just because the company's losing so much money and is struggling to stay afloat in this industry doesn't mean it should attempt to pull wacky stunts like this. Ugh ... I really didn't want to go there, but you made me, Sega. Damn you for making me bring up the poop-infested toilet that is your financial situation.

Whet your appetite for post apocalyptic Russia with this Metro: Last Light Genesis trailer

To contact us Click HERE

It says in Genesis that God created the world in six days, but in Metro: Last Light – the sequel to the critically acclaimed, cult-classic Metro 2033 – it only took mankind one day to transform the world into a wasteland.

That's pretty dark! Who would have thought the survival horror genre would be making such a grand return. Metro 2033 set the mood for what became a very dark and claustrophobic game that had you surviving underground. Last Light looks to take it further with more varied and scary environments and some new gameplay elements like hand cranking your lamp and wiping off your gas mas from various debris or blood.

Set beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the metro, players take control of Artyom as he holds on for survival, battling mutants and other remnants of mankind in the catacombs beneath the desolate surface and on the poisonous outside world. With station-cities of the metro locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6, players must prevent a civil war that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever in the sequel to the critically acclaimed, cult-classic Metro 2033.

It looks like developer Gaijin Games is taking its retail 3DS compilation Bit.Trip Saga and releasing it on the digital space. The collection, which features all six of the original Bit.Trip games, will be available to download on the 3DS eShop on December 20. The best part about all of this is that Saga will only run you $14.99.

Fire's Revenge is another new physics based point and click game from nextplay. This game is hot right now and borderline pyromaniacs are playing this as I type this. The player's goal is to build the largest fire the city has ever witnessed and prove all the other fire persons that you are the most fiery of them all. Yes, you are the flame in this game so act like one.

There are thirty levels in it including the tutorials that will walk you through the controls and mechanics. There are achievements for those who love to achieve something for extra challenge. With the goal that you have to touch as many planks as you can in order to get higher rating, some levels in this game are relatively difficult but not impossible. It's just that you will have a lot of trial and error moments. Here is Fire's Revenge walkthrough demonstrating how to beat the game.

Review: Power A's FUS1ON Tournament Controller is a decent fit for most hands

To contact us Click HERE
Article_wrap_controllerpowera

The FUS1ON has a lot in common with MadCatz's custom MLG controller that came out a few months ago.  It comes in a deluxe carrying case – which is rather useless, since it's so bulky – and various interchangeable parts, including new grips, both soft touch and matte, as well as a mini screwdriver so that you can easily take them off and re-apply them.  The grips are a great idea, as some people will prefer a softer hold to their controller over plastic, but the process of removing and reapplying is a pain compared to MadCatz' magnetic approach.  It'll take you a minute or two to properly get them put on.

PowerFrom there, we have the feel of the controller itself, which is very good.  The Xbox 360 model comes with fine positioning on the two analog sticks, along with buttons that feel just right and triggers that actually don't wear out their welcome.  A big problem with most third-party controllers is that they don't quite get the feel of triggers right – usually they're awkward.  But here, Power A does a great job making them feel like part of the game, rather than pain-inducing standouts on your trigger fingers.

Still, not everything is one hundred percent with this controller.  The D-pad feels rather useless (the case with most third party controllers), especially with fighting games, which barely register with your movements.  That resorts you to using the analog pad, which can be a mess.  When it comes to first-person shooters, however, it functions just about right, as you barely use the D-pad save for weapon selection anyway.

The analog sticks use a concave layout, where your thumb can rest comfortably atop them.  Sometimes they're a little too big for their own good, but Power A probably meant to do that for maneuverability purposes, so it's forgiven somewhat.  The way they feel works fine for the most part, again depending on what type of game you're playing in the first place.

PowerThe controller comes with a 9.8 foot power cord (sorry, it's not wireless – very few Xbox 360 controllers are), so performance is no problem when it comes to lag, as there isn't really any.  And the controller does have a cool LED light-up feature, where you can cycle through various colors so you can see where everything's laid out.  This is more of a tech show-off feature, at best, but it is rather cool, especially if you're in the mood to play games at night, without those pesky house lights getting in the way.

At $79.99, the Power A FUS1ON controller is a bit of a tough sell, but is relatively cheaper than MadCatz' model.  There are some great features and performance aspects, but also some setbacks that doesn't quite make it the ultimate in third party peripherals.  Still, if you're seeking a power performer mainly for racing games and first-person shooters, this'll get you in the game fairly enough.  But, still, who would use that case…?

November saw the release of Halo 4 and Call of Duty 4, two very popular titles that many hoped would save the video game industry in terms of sales and revenue. They helped, but they didn't solve the industry's problems.

Total video game sales for November 2012, as reported by the NPD Group, were down 11% compared to the same period last year. The bright side is that unit declines are tied with August 2012 for "the smallest year-over-year declines so far this year."

Some other notables is that when comparing the performance of the top five titles from this year to last, the NPD noticed a rise in unit sales of 5%. It was the games outside of the top five, which sold less compared to last year, that led to overall declines.

NPD also recognized that while there were fewer titles launching this November versus November 2011, "these new titles are holding their own and generating the same number of dollars per title on average."

"Unfortunately, declines this month stemmed from softer sales from catalog titles, which launched outside this month, with dollars sales down 11%, collectively."

Overall, total video game sales for November 2012 were $2.55 billion. Below are the top games, all platforms included:

All-new details, concepts leaked for Bungie's 'Destiny'

To contact us Click HERE

There's been plenty of speculation surrounding Destiny, Bungie's follow-up game to the Halo franchise, but today a batch of new materials leaked to the IGN giving fans insight into the game's story and concept.

Although the document was brought to light by a reader, Bungie has confirmed that it was prepared by an advertising agency and "represents an outside look at Destiny's plot, key values, and more."

It begins with a story overview which you can read below.

Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age. A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.” Elsewhere in the document, the massive alien ship is referred to as “the Traveler.

Elsewhere in the document, Bungie co-founder Jason Jones describes, "Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure."

Destiny is described as "fun and accessible to all," with an aim to "create a universe as deep, tangible, and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise."

Anytime you relate something to Star Wars, you're setting yourself up for some lofty goals. If any studio can pull this type of thing off, though, it's Bungie - the developer of Microsoft's now iconic franchise Halo.

In terms of gameplay, Destiny is "social at its core," offering a "world to explore with friends, both old and new."

The document was also said to include a Destiny logo along with Xbox 360 and PS3 icons, as well as the URL "Destiny.com" which currently leads to a password-protected site.

Bungie has responded since the leak, updating their blog with one piece of concept art; IGN has several more through the link above. Bungie also wrote, "Go ahead. Take a peek. It’s alright. We weren't quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can’t wait to finally show you what we've really been up to. Stick around, we haven’t even started yet."

Maybe Bungie will get started at the Spike VGAs on December 7? Given the project's expected launch next year and the timing of the leak, Destiny seems primed for a VGAs reveal. Host Geoff Keighly certainly seemed to have a suspicious reaction to the leak, tweeting, "Well that just happened."

We can't wait to hear more! What are your initial thoughts on Destiny?
