I can't think of a witty title for this Adventure Time screen post

Sometimes you just have to be honest with your audience. Luckily, I have no problem with that because I'm a fan of honesty. I'm not, however, particularly fond of the fact that I couldn't come up with a clever title for this post.

Thankfully, we're past that (I hope) and we can now move on to the meat and potatoes (or if you're a vegetarian, just potatoes) of this post: images! Brand new ones, you guys!

D3Publisher has released six new screens that show off more of the upcoming Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage?! The game is due out on both the 3DS and DS handhelds, and it looks mighty pretty.

Adventure Time follows Finn and Jake as they adventure across the bright, magical, and colorful Land of Ooo. The game is being developed by WayForward Technologies and is due out on Novemeber 13.

Marvel vs. Capcom Origins Image

The gameplay is just as I remember, and just as responsive, so no worries about a poor port. This game is about as close to arcade perfect as they could have possibly gotten. It even has view modes that simulate the old CRT TVs, among other options including one that simulated looking over someone’s shoulder. That one is really fun for watching replays, it felt like I was a kid again watching the teenagers beat the hell out of each other.  And honestly, this game plays like a dream. The balance back then, while not perfect, reflected a time when game developers really only had one chance to get balance right. There were no updates to the game, so many infinites, unrealistic combos and otherwise cheap strategies are in the game (especially the hidden characters in MvC Red Venom and Golden War Machine, I’m looking at you) – and it was awesome. Some may call that “frustrating” but it was nice to remember what games were like back then.

select

The multiplayer and single player arcade modes are again, just as you would remember them. There were no shortcuts added to the game for move inputs and everything is quite sensitive to your inputs, meaning a slight mispress on the control pad is the difference between a shoryuken and a crouching punch. Whereas in modern fighters, the game autocorrects you, this game also illustrates rather well what things were like before autocorrect in fighters – wish we could have something similar for texting.

Also cool was the game’s achievement tracking on the side of the screen in every view except for Stretch. This gives you somewhat of a guide to what you’re doing a lot of so new players can learn the technical jargon rather quickly, and it’s great for achievement hunters. Though, it is an arcade title, so the number of points is limited, getting all of the achievements in the game takes a ton of time and skill. Just be glad you aren’t pumping quarters into it like you were some 17 years ago, and you’ll be fine.

Arcade view

Speaking of multiplayer, I’m a big fan of how the game ranks players online. You earn and lose points for winning and losing battles respectively, and usually you are placed in matches against people of a similar skill level. The netcode in particular was perfect using the GGPO system, I felt no real difference in playing someone online versus playing friends of mine at home.

Only one real gripe with this one -  You can really tell this game was not designed for HD televisions if you turn the option for “Stretch” on to fill the screen. So, there was somewhat of a missed opportunity there. After other games that Capcom has put out recently that have been HD rereleases, you would think they would take the extra time and care to show you what the game may have been like released in a modern era, like the excellent Super Street Fighter II HD Remix.  And I really wish they had gone with Street Fighter vs X-Men rather than Marvel Super Heroes, though that’s more of a personal opinion than a problem with the game itself.

mvx

All in all, for a walk down memory lane to a time when there was no DLC and games existed to make money in the arcades through brutal difficulty, you could do much worse than Marvel vs Capcom Origins.

WWE '13 Superstar attribute ratings revealed

WWE '13 Image

THQ has revealed the official attribute ratings for each of the Superstars in the upcoming WWE '13. The game features several wrestlers from both the modern era and the iconic Attitude era.

A few wrestlers appear in the game multiple times, which indicates character changes. One example is Edge, who went from being a dorky blonde Canadian to a sinister and sexualized villain over the years. It appears that depending on popularity and overall ability, the attributes of these wrestlers differ even if they have two versions in the game. Case in point: Kane's Attitude Era character has more attribute points than his current incarnation.

So here's the WWE '13 roster and the Superstars' individual ratings. The higher the better, which is kind of funny because I always see these ratings as indications of the wrestlers' current positions within WWE.

DmC Devil May Cry Image

Regardless of what you currently think of DmC Devil May Cry or the new Dante, Capcom wants you to know that "you won't be disappointed".

Speaking during the "World of Capcom" panel at New York Comic Con, Product Manager Karl Reader told "those of you saying 'it's not the old Dante; it's not that good anymore', you're wrong. Very very wrong."

"You won't be disappointed," he left off. "I assure you."

During the panel, Capcom showed off a new trailer for DmC Devil May Cry showing off some of the gameplay.

"This is a rebirth and re-imagination of the DmC universe," Reader explained. "It's a completely fresh take on all things DmC; however, that doesn't mean it has none of the previous elements of the past franchise."

"You're still going to get that aerial combat and combat chaining," he assured fans, "but at the same time we've added a ton of new stuff. The new characters, Kat, being one of them, is a member of the Order - a vigilante group who, with the help of Vergil and Dante, are trying to take down the demons."

We still need to go hands-on with DmC Devli May Cry, but from what we saw in the trailer and what Reader is promising, we could be in for quite a treat with this one.

Fire's Revenge is another new physics based point and click game from nextplay. This game is hot right now and borderline pyromaniacs are playing this as I type this. The player's goal is to build the largest fire the city has ever witnessed and prove all the other fire persons that you are the most fiery of them all. Yes, you are the flame in this game so act like one.

There are thirty levels in it including the tutorials that will walk you through the controls and mechanics. There are achievements for those who love to achieve something for extra challenge. With the goal that you have to touch as many planks as you can in order to get higher rating, some levels in this game are relatively difficult but not impossible. It's just that you will have a lot of trial and error moments. Here is Fire's Revenge walkthrough demonstrating how to beat the game.

Review: Dishonored will feed your hunger for revenge, and satisfy it

To contact us Click HERE

As far as that plot goes, it sounds pretty generic at first.  With the aid of some loyalists and magic powers given to you by the ‘Outsider,’ this game becomes everything but generic.  Sure it’s a first person stealth game, but with a steam punk, 1850’s London-esque city setting, infested with plague, caught in trying times… you have yourself one memorable environment.  The combination of tech that seems too advanced for the time period mixed with magic is am absolute win for me.

Dunwall

Dishonored works off the model of ‘playing the way you want to play.’  What this means is that there is never just one way to do anything.  If you want to kill every guard, civilian, and animal on a map – go for it.  If you’d rather sneak past or knock out guards, that’s possible.  If you want to set up elaborate traps and use magic to kill or escape, that’s allowed.  If you want to wait for someone to shoot at you, stop time, possess the person, walk him in front of the shot bullet, resume the flow of time again so he commits suicide – that’s a thing as well.

There will never be a point in the game where you can’t continue because you unlocked the “wrong” ability.  There is even an achievement / trophy for never unlocking any power except Blink which you’re forced to learn.  The more powers you have just mean more options for getting where you need to go.  To get in a building you could jump and blink to a high window, possess a rat and take a tunnel, fight your way through the front door, or find a sewer entrance.  The amount of possibilities is quite staggering.

There are a set number of Bone Charms and Runes in every level that show up when you equip the ‘Heart of a Living Thing.’  Each power costs a varying amount of Runes and each power has two levels.  Bone Charms can be switched out at any time and give you slight boosts to abilities and stats.  At the start of the game you can wear three at a time.

Tallboy

Despite popular belief, the game is not open world.  Each mission takes place in a set area separated by instanced loading screens; so one mission could be in four different areas that you’ll have to load into.  With that said, these areas are huge and still offer a large array of options.  Between most missions there is a safe place you go that you can talk to NPC’s, buy and upgrade your gear.

I also felt that there was a good amount of variety in all the missions.  Each mission wasn’t just a 'go here, sneak in, kill this guy, and leave' affair.  My favorite mission involved visiting masquerade party, finding out who your target was, find what outfit she is disguised in, and then take her out.  It's the attention to detail like the option of signing the guest book which not only adds to the immersion, but makes you feel like a total bad ass.  There is always a nonlethal way to take out your main target.  If you choose, you can play the entire game without killing a single person, which I found to be a pretty unique design choice to an assassin game.

One of the more interesting aspects of the game is the Chaos System. Every action taken during missions affects this Chaos System.  You’ll never see a meter telling you where you fall in chaos except at the end of every mission where it will say that your chaos is either high or low.  Generally, the more nonlethal you are the less chaos you’ll have and vice versa for playing lethally.  Chaos determines how NPCs perceive you.  A high chaos will mean more guards, more security systems, more weepers (plagued zombie like civilians), more rats (hordes of animalistic killing machines), and the final outcome of the game.  Playing more stealthy however rewards the player by making the levels slightly easier, since it is more difficult to be nonlethal than to murder every living thing you come across.

Murder

Something that I feel needs to be mentioned is the great voice acting.  Carrie Fisher, Susan Sarandon, and Chloe Grace Moretz to name a few did an amazing job.  You know the story is written extremely well, when I found myself glued to my controller.  I couldn’t even go to sleep without finishing the current mission I was on, because I needed to know what happens.  I honestly expected a dry uninteresting plot and I was delightfully wrong.  Dishonored does an excellent job in really making you feel like you’ve lost everything and continuously kicks you when you’re down.  I found myself wanting revenge.

There were a few design choices that the developers went with, which somewhat decreased the amount of immersion the game had to offer.  The first thing is guards not reacting to opening or closing of doors.  If a guard hears or sees a door open, it does not alarm them in the least.  If I was guarding an important figure and knew an assassin was coming, saw a door open in front of me and no one was there, I’d become very concerned.  The same goes for deactivating security systems.  If you shut down equipment, the guards don’t react at all and don't even attempt to get it back online.  When a watch tower stops rotating or the light wall stopped sparking, I’d suspect foul play.

Hands down most frustrating thing is when you sneak behind a guard, try to perform a nonlethal take down, see the icon saying you can do so, but instead just block until the guy you’re trying to take out sees you.  This is actually a huge deal when trying to play the game completely stealthy, especially when working towards the 'Ghost' achievement / trophy.  This issue happens more than it should and is extremely frustrating when take downs have to be timed very precisely.  Needless to say, I had to reload my game more than I wanted to due to this issue.

Boyle Party

I was hyped for Dishonored.  While my initial reaction to the game was iffy, and didn't completely suck me in, it was about midway in the third mission that I became enthralled.  I think it was a combination of acquiring a bigger variety in abilities and the plot getting more exciting.  At that point I was hooked though.  Now that I’ve finished the game I can honestly say there is a good amount of replayability.  The game isn't short by any means and  should take around 20-25 hours to beat your first time around if you are taking the nonlethal approach.  Definitely pick this up if you’re a fan of all things steam punk, stealth, or assassin.

Mario_golf

It's Thursday, and Nintendo's got plenty of new downloadable offerings across the Wii, 3DS, and DS. The list isn't as stacked as it was last week, but there's still a lot of digital content on tap for gamers looking to download some games via their Nintendo platforms.

First up we've got The Last Blade 2 on the Wii Virtual Console. This Neo Geo game features 2D sword-based fighting gameplay and is priced at 900 Wii Points. Also, this:

The Last Blade 2 - Wii - 1

On the 3DS eShop we've got Crazy Kangaroo for $3.99. It's a cartoony top-down action game starring a kangaroo named Barney. There's also Nurikabe by Nikoli, a puzzler priced at $4.99.

Of course, it's not all new software on the eShop. Also available today for $4.99 is the Game Boy Color version of Mario Golf. I never played that one but always wanted to, so I may just check it out. Oh, there's also a free demo for Lego Lord of the Rings.

Last, we've got one offering on DSiWare. Robot Rescue 2 will run you 200 DSi Points ($1.99 if you're buying it on the eShop), and it features puzzle gameplay and the rescuing of robots. Or maybe just one robot, I don't know.

It seems Guillermo del Toro still wants to make inSane

After first being announced back in 2010, Guillermo del Toro's inSane trilogy was scrapped in August. Because the franchise is owned by the acclaimed film creator, however, publisher THQ returned the rights to Del Toro.

Following the cancelation of inSane, folks wondered what would happen to the IP. It looks like del Toro is planning to make the trilogy a reality regardless, as he announced at New York Comic Con that he was seeking a new developer.

Del Toro admitted to being a huge Valve fan, so we have to wonder if that could be a possibility down the road. Speaking of Valve, del Toro revealed that his upcoming film Pacific Rim would feature voice acting from Ellen McClain, also known as GlaDOS from Portal. Because robots, you guys!

This may be one of the funniest promotional videos I've seen in quite a while. With Just Dance 4 launching today in North America, Ubisoft has released a new video that shows the power of Justin Bieber.

In the video, a bunch of girls — Beliebers, I believe they are called — are invited to what they think is a focus group, or play test, for Just Dance 4 — specifically for the Justin Bieber song "Beauty and a Beat"...ha...

What they don't know is Justin Bieber is right behind the mirror watching their dance moves. He then surprises the girls, some of them breaking down into tears just from being in the same room as the boy wonder. I seriously can't believe the reaction some of them have to seeing him.

There is a point to all of this; Ubisoft has announced Just Dance 4 as an official sponsor of Justin Bieber's "Believe" Tour in North America. The sponsorship is highlighted by the "Just Dance to Justin Sweepstakes" which lets you enter a sweepstakes onthe Just Dance Facebook Page for a chance to meet Justin.

If you've got Bieber Fever, you need to watch this video. Just Dance 4 is available for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. The game will also be released for the Wii U sometime during the system's "launch window".

When it comes to Skyrim, I still haven’t been able to put it down. I’m sure a lot of you have killed enough dragons and are completely tired of acquiring shouts, but for those of you still scouring the land of Skyrim just for the heck of it like myself, Hearthfire is yet another facet of Skyrim you must explore.

Upon downloading Hearthfire and entering the game, a courier will stop you and tell you of land that is being offered for sale. Land for sale! Awesome, right? Well, it is and it turns out you can construct quite the mansion on your land out of building materials you can acquire throughout Skyrim by purchasing from traders or finding on your own.

hearthfire

Welcome to SKYRIM CRIBZ.

Starting only with a carpentry table and blueprints, you start with a humble home, but have the option to add onto it. This is where the fun lies. Once you build your main home, new blueprints are opened up allowing you to build more sections of your home including a kitchen, armory, trophy room and a host of other sections. Once built, you can also furnish your house by continuing to build items such as beds, tables and chairs out of certain materials found around Skyrim. Once you build your house up, you start to feel accomplished and I’m sure most of you will want to take on more responsibility. So, why not become a Dad? Although, you won’t have the added awkwardness that you see in Fable games often times, (bedroom sounds), you will be able to adopt children who are homeless throughout Skyrim. (Daww.)

hearthfire

To be clear, there are no added quests to this small DLC, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth your time. For 400 Microsoft points, it creates another dimension to your life inside of Skyrim by allowing you to purchase land and possibly build a nice home if you wish adding another level of personalization to Skyrim that wasn’t there originally.

If you haven’t jumped off the Skyrim bus yet, you should definitely give this a try. It isn’t a huge, meaty DLC by any means, but for 400 points, buying land, building a house with your own two hands and the ability to adopt children are pretty cool additions for addicted adventurers. So go see for yourself, Dragonborn!

Kinect Nat Geo TV review

To contact us Click HERE

Kinect Nat Geo TV is great for the whole family. It's being called a 2-way TV experience, and it loves up to that description. You're literally watching and interacting with actual episodes of Nat Geo WILD, hosted by Casey Anderson and his grizzly bear Brutus. Yea, the guy owns a bear, and with the ESRB Rating of everyone 10 and up, you don't have to worry about any mishaps. Containing eight 30-minute episodes, Casey teaches you about animals and the wild that they live in through Yellowstone and Alaska. Coming on two discs, the episodes are:

As you can see, you're going to be doing a lot with bears. So how is it that you interact with the episodes? Multiple ways, actually, with none of them being too difficult. You'll be talking to your Kinect, saying "snap" to capture snapshots of certain things, and saying "tracks" when you see animal tracks on the screen, which brings you to a 'sidetrack' segment where you listen to facts about the animal, and based on those facts try to track it.

kinect nat geo tv

You'll also learn things, like Black Bears tearing off the bark of the tree to eat the bugs underneath. Then, you'll play a mini-game based what you learned. The Kinect will take you and another player, and it will turn you into the animal you are learning about. My three-and-a-half year-old nearly freaked out when he saw his body with bear claws and a bear head. We used our whole bodies — our arms to claw at the trees to get the bugs out, and then move our heads to eat the bugs — to get as many points as possible in a time limit. During an episode, you'll get about three of these mini-games, with the last one tying all of the previous ones together. These are by far the highlight of the game and the thing that will have kids screaming with joy in the living room.

You get stars for every interaction you have in the episode. The goal is to level up your animal badge from bronze to platinum by earning stars in these mini-games and events. While it's easy to get a star for taking a snapshot or the sidetracks, the mini-games can be a bit challenging — even with two players — to get the points required for three stars. Even if you get a question wrong or get one star in a mini-game, the game is very positive and encouraging — something I find great for kids.

kinect nat geo tv

Let's say you and your kids don't want to go through a whole episode, and instead want to just play the mini-games, you can access the mode "Go WILD" from the main menu. Go WILD lets you just play the mini-games. You can be a Mountain Lion and pick up your cubs in your mouth and then drop them into their den, or you can be a bear and swat at hives for honey while avoiding bees. It's a great, family-friendly way to release some energy.

I said that my three-and-a-half year-old enjoyed the Go Wild part, but he lost interest when just watching an episode. So while younger kids can play it and enjoy it, I see how it's meant for kids closer to the 10-year-old mark. I can't really comment on the graphics or music, seeing as how 90 percent of the game is actual Nat Geo WILD episodes.

Kinect Nat Geo TV is truly a 2-way TV experience. It's the perfect way for the whole family to spend time together while learning and having fun. If your kids aren't really into animals and nature, most of this game won't really hold this attention, so be warned. That being said, Kinect Nat Geo TV is a great direction for the Kinect and Xbox 360 to go. Interactive 2-way TV has a bright future if it builds upon the foundation laid down by Kinect Nat Geo TV.

Crysis 3 multiplayer detailed, Crytek reveals New York Feed

Odds are, when it comes to Crysis 3 you're probably not buying it for the multiplayer portion of the game. Crytek and EA aren't letting that sentiment stop them when it comes to developing features for multiplayer and when it comes to Crysis 3, they aren't holding back.

In a video released today, Producer Mike Read details some of the new gameplay elements being introduced to the multiplayer of Crysis 3. As the video points out, Crysis 3's multiplayer features maps, over 30 new weapons, and eight modes. PC will support 16-player games, while consoles only manage 12. The two modes highlighted in today's video are the already-revealed Hunter Mode and Crash Site.

In Hunter Mode, two players begin as cloaked Hunters tasked with killing a larger group of CELL units before the timer runs out; each CELL unit killed respawns as a Hunter.

Crash Site is more of a "King of the Hill" style mode where a ship will deploy a pod at a random location. The pod has a capture zone which players must spend time in to accumulate points; after a certain time the pod will explode and redeploy at another location. Each pod has a pair of shields that can be used for defense or offense. Also debuting in Crash Site is the Pinger, a powerful mech with devastating firepower.

At the end of the video, Read also unveils the New York Feed, a "dynamically generated map of New York City that creates an information flow of what you and your friends have achieved throughout the game."

Crysis 3 is due out in February 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Although speculation continues to surround a Wii U version, Crytek has confirmed they are "not currently" working on a version for Nintendo's new console.

Fire's Revenge is another new physics based point and click game from nextplay. This game is hot right now and borderline pyromaniacs are playing this as I type this.

Frank O' Connor: Xbox 360 isn't nearing end of its life cycle

Despite wide speculation that the next generation of consoles are set to be unveiled in the coming months, with a possible 2014 launch, some still fully believe that this generation still has much to offer to its users, including 343 Industries’ Frank O’ Connor.

In a thorough interview with GamesIndustry.biz, O’ Connor was asked if he believed the Xbox 360 was at the end of its lifestyle, in which he responded interestingly:

"The funny thing is I've been asked that question a lot, I think it's natural as we start looking forward to the next generation of hardware. But I would actually strongly contest the fact that the Xbox 360 is at the end of its life cycle, this has already been one of the longest generations and there's a really good reason for it, which is that current consoles are incredibly flexible and still really powerful. The reason that Halo 4 looks good is that that machine has an awful lot of untapped power still and it's going to continue to."

O’Connor went on to praise Microsoft’s push to turn the 360 into a full fledged media console where gamers can enjoy their favorite titles, listen to their music, and view their favorite movies and TV shows. He also believes that consumers are not ready to invest in a $500 console, especially those who currently own consoles only for the media aspect of it.

We now turn to you, the readers. Do you believe we’re ready for a new set of consoles from Sony and Microsoft, or do you stand on the side of Mr. Frank O’ Connor? Let us know by commenting below.

NiGHTS Into Dreams HD review

NiGHTS into dreams... Image

The game puts you in control of a dream warrior named NiGHTS who works with two kids trying to fight through an imaginary world loaded with enemies.  To eliminate them, NiGHTS must form circles around them to make them disappear or, with some bigger boss enemies, grasp onto a weak point and let loose with a powerful throw or push.  It's a non-violent approach to defeating enemies (compared to, say, a missile launcher), and for the most part it works.

NiGHTS

Each level is also loaded with other objectives, such as flying through hoops and putting together "links" to get a better score on each part of the stage, as well as collecting gems.  You'll need to do this and hit certain points on the map within a time limit, or the "dream" is over.

Playing as NiGHTS is a fantastic experience, as the dream warrior controls with very little problem, and the gameplay quirks can be picked up on in a matter of seconds.  However, when you're stuck playing as one of the kids (which happens if you lose dream power), you have to slug around on the ground, avoiding an alarm clock and working all the way back to NiGHTS' awaiting station.  It's tiresome, so your best bet is to just keep alive as the main hero.

Along with the main game, which will take you some time to get through when it comes achieving A grades, you've also got a bunch of bonuses to unlock, as well as online leaderboards, supported by Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, so you can compete for the best times.  That's great, but the real treasure in this package is Christmas NiGHTS.  This spin-off, originally shipped as a bonus goodie for the Official Sega Magazine years ago, is wonderful, with not only new levels to complete, but presents to open.  Some are better than others, but the fact the game is thrown in at all – without the extra cost for DLC – is a superb move on Sega's part.

Nights

The presentation is fantastic.  Like Sonic Adventure 2, NiGHTS Into Dreams has undergone a cool HD transfer.  Some of the level designs are a little weak compared to others, but the visuals have been prettied up enough that you probably won't care.  The boss battles are real standouts, as the camera zooms out wide enough that you can see everything that's happening.  For purists, you can also play the original Saturn version, though that oval-shaped Saturn controller isn't thrown in.  Ah, well.

As for the music, it's traditional Sonic Team stuff, fun little melodies that'll keep you hooked.  There could've been more sound effects (unlike the little "whine" noises), but overall it's acceptable.

Nights

I enjoyed NiGHTS Into Dreams HD more than Sonic Adventure 2, because, as a whole, it's way more accessible, and packed with more than enough extras, particularly Christmas NiGHTS.  Its approach to dispatching enemies and flying through levels may not be for everyone, but you owe it to yourself to play through this dreamy world at least once.  And who knows.  Like me, you just might be hooked.

Mass casualties reported as hackers attack World of Warcraft, Blizzard issues hotfix and conducts 'thorough investigation'

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Image

Hackers massacred thousands of innocent World of Warcraft players when they unleashed "a kill hack" earlier. Cities all over Azeroth were littered with piles of skeletons — both player and NPC characters — after level 1 characters were able to stroll into major cities and decimate the entire population like a plague.

Blizzard appears to have fixed the issue that allowed the hack, but the perpetrators have attempted to "justify" their actions.

"We didn't do any permanent damage," the unknown killer said on a forum (via). "Some people liked it for a new topic of conversation and a funny stream to watch, and some people didn't. The people who didn't should be blaming Blizzard for not fixing it faster (four hours of obvious use is sad).

"It's not like I added 20,000,000 gold to everyone's inventory and broke the economy, but look at the big Chinese gold seller companies who are doing this every day. Now ask yourself who is really ruining the game. It's not us."

"That's my justification," the post concluded.

The perpetrators recorded themselves clearing the End Time dungeon in about three minutes, but decided to nuke cities after discovering the hack was about to get fixed. The result was thousands of deaths and tons of videos and screenshots of the massacres being posted to the internet.

"We had to. The first account ban for using the kill hack was issued around 30 minutes before we started nuking cities. We did so because we knew it was going to be fixed," one of the hackers explained.

Innocent players can now safely log back into World of Warcraft free of fear from these "terrorist"-like attacks. Blizzard has hotfixed the exploit and responded to the situation, assuring players that they are conducting a "thorough investigation".

Blizzard Community Manager Nethaera wrote:

Earlier today, certain realms were affected by an in-game exploit, resulting in the deaths of player characters and non-player characters in some of the major cities. This exploit has already been hotfixed, so it should not be repeatable. It's safe to continue playing and adventuring in major cities and elsewhere in Azeroth.

As with any exploit, we are taking this disruptive action very seriously and conducting a thorough investigation. If you have information relating to this incident, please email hacks@blizzard.com. We apologize for the inconvenience some of you experienced as a result of this and appreciate your understanding.

Oh, the joys of playing an MMO. What do you think? Did you find the situation funny or would you be pissed if it happened to you?

Borderlands 2 review

To contact us Click HERE

While the story doesn't change much in terms of plot devices (you're still vault hunters after all), its presentation is much more comprehensible this time around. There is a clearly defined bad guy in Handsome Jack, a self absorbed asshole with some devilishly good looks. He's easy to hate, and provides a good enough reason to press on with your quest to take him, and the Hyperion corporation down.

borderlands 2

Old cast and new team up for one Badass experience

At its core however, it's still Borderlands. It's still all about shooting and looting, completing quests, coming across strange and quirky characters, and customizing the crap out of your chosen character. The fact that the formula remains identical to the first will make players of the first game feel right at home with Borderlands 2. Whether you consider this a good thing or a bad thing is purely based on player preference. If you were expecting a major departure from what you already played back in 2009, you might find yourself disappointed. Borderlands 2 sticks to its guns, and improves on what made the first game so successful.

There are certain aspects of the game which are undoubtedly better. The skill trees feel far more diverse this time around, offering a much deeper, and more specialized customization. This sort of diversity also encourages players to experiment a bit with their builds and find one that truly fits their playstyle. What's more is that completing challenges, such as killing a designated number of enemies with a designated gun, nets you Badass Tokens. These are well worth completing since each token grants you a permanent boost to a number of stats, such as gun damage, shield capacity, critical damage, grenade damage, etc. Even better is that these stat boosts carry over to every character you make.

borderlands 2

A lot more customization this time around, even your character appearance

The tedium of quests has also gotten a much needed overhaul. Quests are now far more dynamic, changing and continuing based on your actions, rather than just task you with killing a certain amount of enemies, and returning back for your reward. There are also a bunch of standout quests that will undoubtedly bring a smile to your face, such as the Top Gun inspired mission, tasking you to collect volleyballs and jet fuel, and then killing a bunch of shirtless men, classic. One of my favorites however was the tea party quest for Tiny Tina. You first had to go collect members for the tea party, one which was an actual bandit. Then have them sit at the party (of course the bandit was roped up in an electric chair) and defend the party long enough from an onslaught of bandits until Tiny Tina was satisfied.

Another big change to quests is the fact that they can be failed if not done in a timely manner, or completely altered. In one of the storyline quests, I was tasked with rescuing a fellow Commando from a robotic cell. If you destroy the cell quickly enough, you'll save him and the quest will be over. However if you take too long, it will fly back to its base, meaning you then have to infiltrate it and rescue him there.

borderlands 2

If you were getting sick of seeing apocalyptic wasteland and barren desert, you'll be pleased to know that Pandora is much more diverse. You'll trek across a snow arctic tundra, lush grasslands, mechanical and robotic bases and more. Even the enemy diversity got a big bump in Borderlands 2. Aside from the standard human factions such as bandits and nomads, you'll be dispatching ape sized Bullymongs, giant Crystalisks, and the invisible turning Stalkers.

Borderlands 2 is full of references not only to the first game, but other games, and pop culture as well. You'll spot various references to famous movie or television quotes, and even references to various Meme's. Whether you're hearing Zer0 saying "You just set off my trap card" in reference to YuGiOh, or an NPC saying "This is no planet for old men", you just can't help but smile. Nothing will prepare you for your first encounter with a Minecraft Creeper.

Network Failures plague Day 3 of the League of Legends Season 2 Playoffs

To contact us Click HERE
League of Legends Image

Well, if this won't convince developers to implement a LAN mode for tournament level games, I'm not entirely sure what will. On day three of the League of Legends Season 2 playoffs, it took three restarts to not even deliver a quarterfinal result between Counter Logic Gaming EU and China's World Elite. No two teams will have known each other more intimately when all is said and done, since they ended up playing a total of six at least partial games against each other.

Indeed, these restarts changed the meta of the entire series against each other - WE's Fzzf had superb Blitzcrank play throughout game one, which WE won easily, and CLG failed to ban Blitz heading into game two. They were on very poor ground in game two when the first outage hit.

After the game was restarted, the ban phase went entirely differntly for CLG, who had had enough of Blitzcrank and promptly banned him. CLG managed a win in game two perhaps because of this, but also played an extremely skilled game so no one would take anything away from this.

Game three was the highlight of this scandal though. CLG was one team fight and a Nexus away fromt taking the entire series. Maybe it was some bad karma that CLG was saved in Game 2 by a network failure, though it was much less of a robbery than this one. Still, a regame was required. After a long delay Game 3 started again with the same group of champions. And the connection failed yet again just past the 20 minute mark.

The delay lasted almost two hours. The casters and host tried desperately to entertain the crowd online and in person. The teams came back to the stage - but then a PC needed to be replaced. Another long delay before djWheat returned to the stage to explain that Riot no longer felt confident in the venue and had decided to hold the last game of the semifinals on a secure connection somewhere else.

This was a travesty. Not only did Riot give Valve perhaps the best possible smear campaign against League of Legends and only online play, they sent their host out to do it, rather than stepping up to the plate and having a Riot employee come out and explain the situation. Not to mention how the teams must feel. Three regames and eight hours, there's still no result for this semifinal - the result of the entire Season 2 finals could almost be comprimised by this entire scandal.

Also, there's something to be said for this so called "secure connection". Does that mean that the venue's connection was attacked with DDoS? Riot denies it vehemently, but I doubt they would want to admit that to their over 600,000 concurrent viewers, not to mention the live audience.

The entire weekend had great production quality up to this point, so we'll see what they have up their sleeve next weekend for the Season 2 finals - hopefully they choose somewhere that's paid up their entire internet bill. And maybe, just maybe, developers like Riot and Blizzard will see that hosting LAN style tournaments using an online system for the joke it really is.

Fire Pro-Wrestling Image

Fire Pro Wrestling - 360 - 1

For it what it’s worth, this is a very basic though passable gameplay mechanic. The problem is that it isn’t very fun when you’re actually in that ring mixing things up. Seeing the same moves gets old quick, and there’s not much depth to keep you entertained for very long. Even today’s crop of WWE games, which may be fairly easy to get the hang of, offer a much more rewarding experience. Case in point: Last year’s WWE ’12 was a great game, and even if WWE ’13 disappoints this year, I doubt it’ll be as boring as Fire Pro Wrestling.

Despite not being as entertaining or challenging as it could’ve been, this game still has some interesting design elements that made me feel compelled to keep playing. The single-player campaign, for example, spans three circuits: Casual, Champion, and Underground. You compete in a series of matches and earn experience points along the way. Experience points can be used to toughen up your Avatar, giving him or her more strength, speed, stamina, and so on. You also unlock new moves, attire, and entrance taunts. It’s a cool concept that kept me coming back to Fire Pro Wrestling even though the game isn’t particularly good.

Single-player mode aside, you've also got local and online multiplayer. Playing with people you actually know is always more fun, but having the option to play against random folks online is still cool. Unfortunately, there’s no real ranking system to put you up against equally leveled opponents, which is a bummer. To be honest, though, even if there was, Fire Pro Wrestling still wouldn’t be entertaining for very long.

Fire Pro Wrestling - 360 - 2

Visually, the game has a bit of charm, though that charm fades fast. It's kind of fun watching Avatars sporting lucha libre masks and flashy tights, but the novelty wears thin after the first few matches. Likewise, it can also be funny hearing the strange groans and cheers that the Avatars make while taunting.

Despite the fact that beating up a bunch of Avatars has some potential, the core mechanics in Fire Pro Wrestling never evolve into anything worthwhile. The result is a mediocre yet playable wrestling game that’s hardly worth checking out unless you’re looking to have some mindless fun with your kids. I stand by my opening statement: Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is the true last game in Spike’s long-running wrestling franchise.
